Australian Payments Forum
The Australian Payments Forum (APF) was established by APCA in 2008 to bring together key payment stakeholders to consider ways to promote innovation and system evolution over the long term while ensuring healthy competition.
In 2014, the APF gave away to the broader remit of the newly established Australian Payments Council and Payments Community. Its final meeting was held in August 2014 at which participants discussed the Financial System Inquiry Interim Report.
Professor Ian Harper had been the Convener of the APF since its inception. Professor Harper is one of Australia’s best known economists. He has worked closely with governments, banks, corporates and leading professional services firms at the highest level. As a member of the celebrated Wallis Inquiry, he was at the forefront of financial market reform in Australia. He brought an exceptional consultative approach to the APF, ensuring its success over the past six years. APCA thanks Professor Harper for his important contribution.
