Low Value Payments

At APCA we’re looking ahead to the long term direction of Australian low value payments (LVPs), including the direct entry and cheques systems. We’ve consulted with industry and the wider community and developed future vision and action plan for its realisation.

In March 2008, we released a consultation paper for public comment.  We reported on the feedback we received in our Low Value Payments: An Australian Roadmap in December 2008. The LVP Roadmap outlines work to be done in the areas of payment networks, the type of information used in transactions, and the settlement and clearing processes. In March 2011 we reported on our progress in Low Value Payments: Progress Update.
